Machines have taken over many jobs, which were traditionally done by humans, but honestly I always thought my job would be safe. Scientists can't live without computers, but they need our input, our knowledge, our brainpower. Well, this paper in Science disagrees. Adam, the robot scientist and hence every P.I.'s dream student, forms hypotheses and tests them.
The last paragraph contains this sentence:
"...although Adam is capable of running for a few days without human intervention, it is advisable to have a technician nearby in case of problems..."
So, are we going to help computers now?
