Just when I was getting ready to write an overview of the London2012 Athletics (aka Track & Field) competitions, sad news for all Paula Radcliffe fans. The world record holder has withdrawn from the Olympic marathon due to injury. This means that she will end her career without an Olympic medal.
To be honest, I am somewhat relieved. She was clearly not at peak form, based on her last races and I would much rather remember her with the previous dominating performances in Chicago, NY and London. Let's see if she will try a Fall race. I wouldn't be able to watch her if she runs the NYC this year, but it would be fun to follow in her footsteps.
