Here's a fun idea: Running from LA to NYC in 70 days. The race is in progress right now (sorry, you missed the application). 15 runners started the race and as of the end of day 9, 8 are still chugging along.
You can get daily updates on their website. It is not clear where in NY the race ends, but I would like to see it.
In case you are interested. The entry fee was $6175 this year. ($6500, if you are enrolling at the last minute, i.e. three months before the race.)
