Barefoot running

Here is one of those rare occasions when my work and one of my hobbies cross paths.

A group of American, British and Kenyan researchers analyzed foot strike patterns of barefoot and shod runners and found out that most people who run in modern, cushioned running shoes strike heel first; while barefoot runners strike with fore-foot or mid-foot. They also compared different strikes in terms of the level of impact and showed that landing on your fore-foot is better for your body.

They do not yet suggest getting rid of your running shoes, but say that more research is needed.
